So you Want to Fly a Plane....
So heres the deal. I got plenty of advice.
Am I an expert? No. But I
am taking ground school and planning to become a recreational pilot.
First, you gotta learn the books. Buy a book and read it. Jeppesson
has good books. You will also need:
- Medical Certificate (3rd Class)
which is good for 3 years (On the back of it is the Student Pilot Certificate
which is good for only 2 years)
- Approval from a CFI to write the
FAA written exam.
- Write the exam and pass. You
then have 1 year to get your Pilot license, which requires 40 hours of flight
training, and pass a Practical Test which includes Oral Exam and Flight Test.
Non-US Citizens: I will add info here on getting TSA approval before flight
training.
Flight Simulators: Get
Microsoft Flight Simulator and some good hardware to go along with it.
